0311Wifey asked:

Its not every day but sometimes the whites of my husbands eyes are really yellow looking. He is in the military so of course he is tested for STDs regularly and I just had a son in November and I was tested, so we know that neither of us have any type of Hepatitis and I have heard that is what causes this. Is there anything else that would cause his eyes to be yellow like this?

The most common reason people will have yellow eyes is jaundice. This is usually caused by liver disease. things like hepatitis, cirrhosis, alcoholic liver damage, obstructing gallstone, medications that interfere with your liver function. In some cases it can be caused by some blood diseases ( hemolytic anemia).
There is a genetic disease which affect alot of people (Gilbert’s disease). This causes jaundice when we are sick with soemthing else , like a high fever, flu. It is totally benign though.
I guess the short answer is if you have jaundice you should really see a doctor. It could be anything from, nothing to worry about, mild or sever liver disease or in some rare cases cancer.

Does he drink a lot? Does he have any other signs of kidney failure?
