hepatitis
imhungryrightnow asked:

She had several blood transfusions back then. But it doesn’t seem very likely that she’s had this disease all those years without any significant symptoms. She has always been a smoker, now for the last several years she’s also been drinking alcohol (earlier she almost didn’t drink at all). She has had two big operations, she was on antibiotics, she has no spleen. Is it possible she’s had hepatitis c for so long and she’s still quite healthy? Or did she probably get it later?

Back when they weren’t too picky about where they got blood, yes. There was a time when blood was bought from homeless winos who could have any number of infectious diseases. Considering her alcohol use, however, maybe it’s some other liver disease, like cirrhosis.
