I was diagnosed with Hep C on January 2008 and by May 2008 I stated the one-year treatment. I filmed this video in April 2009, a couple of weeks before I was completely finished with the treatment. The video describes my experience with the side effects of the medication. Good luck to those of you how are stating the treatment. I hope my video helps you. I was diagnosed with Hep C because I went to get a regular check-up and I requested my doctor some blood tests just out of curiosity (not because I felt ill). I had never had an HIV test done before so I requested that and then the nurse went down a list of possible tests and I just said ok to a bunch of them (including Hep C, syphilis, etc) they called me a few weeks later and told me I had Hep C. It was hard to take the news especially because I didnt know what it was. Reading about online scared me even more. Nevertheless, I found my current doctor and the nurses where amazing- they answered all of my questions and help me understand that having Hep C is not my fault and I am not a bad person. It is unknown how I got it. I have never used drugs and have never had a blood transfusion. My doctor explained that, until recently, some clinics and even hospitals were not disinfecting with the appropriate chemicals that kill the Hep C virus so I could have gotten it at the dentist for what we known.
